Which Medicare Plans for 2019 are Best?

The eligibility for Medicare Plans in 2019 is essentially the same as for Medicare. Once you reach the age of eligibility for Medicare (65) you are automatically eligible for Medigap plans. The only stipulation is that if you have some coverage on Medicare like Part D, some of your Medigap coverage may not be applicable. Essentially, you cannot be covered for the same thing by both insurance plans.

They do both offer similar coverage for some items like hospice care where the coverage does not actually overlap. In the case of that supplemental item, Medicare basic provides partial coverage for hospice care. Medigap provides additional coverage for what it calls Part A coinsurance. They both cover the same item there, but in different ways, so it is accepted.

Now with ten plans to choose from, they are not all going to cover the same items. You will have to look at them individually to see if they cover what you need covered. Keep in mind that not every medical expense you have to deal with needs to be taken care of by insurance. You may want to leave some to pay for out of your own pocket. In some cases, that can be less expensive for you. For instance, the Medicare Part B deductible is only covered by Plan F. But that coverage comes at the cost of having to pay for Plan F’s often exorbitant rates. If you can live without that coverage, you can save money by choosing a lower-coverage plan.

The Medicare Plans for 2019 are certainly going to cost you, but you may be able to save money on them by being smart with your money. You can find various prices on the same plan just by checking around and sourcing quotes. Just look at the lowest quote available and go with that insurance provider. Now you may be worried that you are going to miss out on some important coverage if you get a good deal on one of these plans, but that is not the case. Medicare makes sure you can enjoy the same coverage in its plans no matter how much you pay for the plan and no matter which provide you are buying it from. You are guaranteed the same coverage for each plan that has the same name.

Plan G is still plan G with all its same coverage if you pay a lot for it or get a really good deal on it. That’s why it only makes sense to go with the cheapest rate you can find. You don’t necessarily want to go with the cheapest plan, though. You probably do need coverage for many of your medical expenses, and you will have to look at all the available plans to determine which of them covers you like you need.

Don’t wait too long to start looking into Medicare Plans in 2019. It can really benefit you to plan ahead and pick out your plan as soon as possible. That way, you can be certain you are getting the best deal for your money and not picking out a plan you will come to regret.
