If you’re age 65 or older it’s Medicare time! Let’s face it, Medicare coverage is necessary, especially with the rising costs of health care. However, Medicare alone is not enough. You will need to add a supplemental plan to help with the additional costs not covered by traditional Medicare benefits. When choosing a supplemental plan, carefully consider all of the benefits each plan has to offer in making the decision as to which plan is best suited for your needs. And when people want the most comprehensive coverage then they start looking for the best Medicare Plan F.
Is There Really a Best?
All insurance carriers have the exact same plan F due to them being standardized, however you should stick with higher rated insurance companies and use an independent agent to help when shopping for premiums. The coverage is the same on Plan F between companies but the premiums vary widely. Plan F costs more due to the fact that it offers such a wide range of benefits and what is called “first dollar coverage”
The Most Comprehensive Plan
Medicare Plan F is complete coverage. This plan is by far one of the best plans on the market today. With other plans, you have to pay out-of-pocket for the gaps not covered, however under this plan, all coinsurance that isn’t covered by Medicare is covered. Hospice care is covered. The first three pints of blood, each year are also covered. Not only is your hospital stay covered, you get an additional 365 days after your Medicare benefits have ended. This gives you peace of mind in the event you have an extended hospital stay. Additionally, 100 days in a skilled nursing facility are covered. Plan F also pays Medicare Part A & B deductibles. If you travel a lot, this plan also offers emergency travel benefits, covering 80% of the cost. Good to know you are covered no matter where you are.
High Deductible Plan F
There is another option this plan offers which is in form of a high-deductible plan. The monthly premiums cost a lot less with this option, saving you money. However take note, nothing is covered until a $2110 deductible is reached. So if you’re in good health and don’t have a need to see your physician on a regular basis, this option may be a good choice for you.
